After going 150 points to the Atlanta Hawks in the previous game, the Indiana Pacers were cooled by the Boston Celtics last night. They finished with 101 points, a small total for the best offense in the league. Tyrese Haliburton, their maestro, was particularly put in difficulty. He scored 17 points but was 5 of 17 on shots. He only distributed 7 assists, far from his 12 per match, and he lost 4 balls when he usually has little waste. The All-Star point guard fell on a bone. Well even two. Derrick White et Jrue Holiday.
« They have a good defense. I don’t know the stats but I imagine it’s the best defense in the league. They have wings that are long…Derrick White and Jrue Holiday are probably the two best man defenders in the NBA », admitted the person concerned afterwards.
The Celtics’ collective defense is excellent and is enhanced by the stoppers White and Holiday. Two incredible assets in view of the playoffs, when Boston will have to slow down an opponent with two superstars on the wings or in the backcourt for example. Derrick White deserves to be seriously considered as a DPOY.
