CELTA DE VIGO – BETIS: Rafa Benítez endorses the signing of Jailson

Rafa Benítez endorses the signing of Jailson. The light blue coach has described the hiring of the Brazilian center half as “a market opportunity” that responds to the “profile that the team required” and has valued the speed with which the club has closed the signing, in addition to his experience and versatility.

“The club has moved quickly and we have made a signing in line with the profile we were looking for: a midfielder of a certain physical structure, who could compete and be confident with the ball. It was a market opportunity because he was free and has experience of winning titles,” said the celestial coach, who downplayed the fact that Jailson was not a starter for Palmeiras.

“It’s like if you sign a player from Bayern or Real Madrid and say ‘he doesn’t start,’” he compared. And he added: “It gives you experience and quality and having been with us at Dailán he knows what he has to do. In a situation like ours it has many advantages that had to be taken advantage of. His signing is very positive. “It has a different profile and at a certain moment it can give us different things.”

Although he lacks competitive pace due to having played little with Palmeiras, Jailson’s physical condition is good and the coach does not rule out his debut tomorrow against Betis in Balaídos. “He hasn’t played 90 minutes for a while, but he’s coming in with the team and, If we have to throw him into the field, we could throw him out. Another thing is how long,” he explained. Rafa Benítez has also assessed that the Brazilian can perform naturally as a central defender and considers him compatible to play with Renato Tapia, which adds a plus to his hiring.

More signings?

Although Jailson can cover the loss of Aidoo in the defensive axis, the celestial coach does not rule out any other incorporation, but has warned that the winter market “is complicated” and the circumstances may not arise to find the right profile: “We do not have this objective or that objective. We are looking. The priority was the midfielder and we covered it early, which is an advantage,” he said.

As for departures, Benítez does not rule out the departure of Agustín Marchesín, with whose work “they are delighted” and would not mind continuing to count on him, and has assured that he counts “one hundred percent” for the future with Iván Villar.

The Celta coach has assumed, on the other hand, that Celta is destined to fight another season to be better than three other teams to save the category and has insisted on the marathon speech when it comes to qualifying the importance tomorrow’s duel against Betis, last of the first round. “We have to be better than three and for that experience is essential. Each game is the most important for us and we have to see how the team rises and improves, we cannot get anxious; “That’s how we make mistakes,” commented Benítez, who has reiterated the need to find “balance” between the defensive and offensive balance, because “we are the fourth team that shoots the most on goal.”

For the duel against Manuel Pellegrini’s men, Benítez is out due to Carl Starfelt’s injury and Mihailo Ristic’s doubt, who reaches “the limit” for the game and, in the best of cases, points to the bench. “We have to go into every dispute and win it. We have to go for the game,” proclaimed Benítez, who praised the rival: “They are an organized team. He is not scoring many goals and conceding few. They are in that moment of balance that allows them to score points. They are dangerous and against them they can do harm.”

Campos

In his appearance prior to the duel against Betis, the Madrid coach referred to the departure of Luis Campos. “I didn’t expect it,” he admitted. And he added: “When the results go wrong, the coach is pointed out. We have to work shoulder to shoulder and ensure that whoever arrives has the greatest possible support and that we all get it right as much as we can.”

Benítez has already contacted Campos’ successor, Marcos Garcés, whom he did not know, but of whom he had good references: “He is an active man, with desire and interesting ideas.” and who knows the template. From there, the day gives you nuances of the line in which you have to go.”
