Castrum Firmignani and Sagitta Arcieri Pesaro Partner to Host Interregional Fitarco Archery Competitions in Fermignano

Archery in Fermignano rises to the next level: thanks to the collaboration between the historic archers Castrum Firmignani and Sagitta Arcieri Pesaro, over the weekend the town will host two interregional Fitarco competitions for the first time, the national federation recognized by CONI. The competitions will be held in Ca’ Paino and Sunday’s competition will determine the regional 3D champions, shooting in wooded areas on silhouettes depicting animals.

“It will be a test to deal with important sanctioned events, which certify the authority of a company – explains Loris Scansalegna, manager of the Ferrmignano archers –. It all starts from a healthy collaboration with Sagitta Pesaro and from an idea born with Elena Forte and Letizia Giorgini: it will be challenging, but I can count on a great group, whom I thank. The process was challenging in terms of finances and logistics, however, thanks to the support of the Municipality, sponsor, Basket Fermignanese, which gave us part of the arena, and Ferrovie dello Stato, which will grant us an area for title challenges, we succeeded. We appreciate the help.”

Happy with the collaboration, which will lead the Pesaro team to reorganize a 3D competition after four years, is the president of Sagitta, Elena Forte, who explains: “In Pesaro it is not easy to find suitable spaces, but the Fermignanese archers proposed themselves and we decided to proceed. This will help both of us. Beyond the numbers (200 registered overall), we will have several athletes of international importance, such as the Longbow world champion and vice-champion, the European instinctive bow champion, Michela Donati, our registered, and other archers in the national team, some of which are our members, such as Maria Cristina Giorgetti and Maddalena Marcaccini. Furthermore, there will be a referee of national importance and the person in charge of all the referees, who will come to observe the organization of the competition It’s pleasing for us, for the Castrums and for the Municipality of Fermignano, which supported us, and it’s good for tourism. At the competition level, they paid for a bit of inexperience, but it’s natural: I helped them with tracking and I’m sure from next year, if they want to do it again, they will be able to manage on their own. I’ll be there anyway, I won’t disappear”, she concludes, laughing.
