Casa Melis in Lego: A Tribute to Capoterra’s Art Nouveau Beauty

Capoterra – Casa Melis becomes a project in Lego bricks: symbol of the local “belle èpoque”, the imposing manor house stands majestically in the historic center area, stupendous in its lines and in the magnificence of the decorations, in perfect Art Nouveau style, which embellish the facade”. Thursday 15th the inauguration of the 17th monument by the artist Maurizio Lampis. “This project was commissioned by the Municipality and the Pro Loco where it will be exhibited at the same structure to then be visible to everyone.

It took 100 days to create and around 20,000 bricks” explains the artist. “No dedicated software or programs were used for its construction.”

When we talk about Capoterra, and the artistic and cultural events that the Cagliari town hosts, we cannot help but mention the wonderful Casa Melis.

We are perhaps talking about one of the last buildings that recalls the Capoterra that no longer exists, “that town that based its economy on agriculture and livestock”. Built in 1920 by the agricultural entrepreneur Giuseppe Melis, it is now also reproduced with the most famous bricks in the world that fascinate children and adults alike. Furthermore, the creator competition took place on Sunday where the children challenged each other by showing off their works. You are in first place

Lorenzo Ibba aged 8 from Quartucciu ranked with “My Judo competition”. Silver medal for 7-year-old Alessia Cocco from Capoterra with “The Pic Nic with the Thieving Frog”.

Also on the podium was 9-year-old Daniele Cocco from Capoterra with “A galactic game of Good versus Bad”.
