Carolina Marín Withdraws from Badminton Malaysia Open 2024 Due to Influenza A

The Spanish Carolina Marín will be low in Badminton Malaysia Open 2024which started this January 9 in Kuala Lumpur, due to a gripe.

Carolina Marín tested positive for influenza A a few days ago and has not been able to recover in time to compete in the first tournament of the year on the BWF Super Series world circuit, as reported by the athlete herself through the social network X (formerly Twitter).

“Unfortunately, I cannot compete this week at the Malaysia Open. A few days ago I tested positive for influenza A and I am now recovering. I hope to be ready for the Indian Open next week. Thank you for your support,” explained the Spanish.

Carolina Marín was the number 5 seed at the Petronas Malaysia Open 2024, a Super 1000 that will run until January 14, and she had to debut against Yi Man Zhang (People’s Republic of China), 17th ranked in the world ranking.

The 2024 Indian Open, a Super 750, will be played from January 16 to 21 in New Delhi.
