Byzantine Archers Ravenna Off to a Strong Start in 2024 with Impressive Performances at 2nd Indoor 3 Towers Tournament

2024 begins under the best auspices for the Byzantine Archers Ravenna, who in the penultimate race valid for qualifications for the next Italian Championships, the “2nd Indoor 3 Towers Tournament” in San Marinothey achieved 6 individual podiums and one team podium.

Venturi Riccardo, the only Byzantine in the youth categories, won the gold medal in the junior men’s compound bow with a score of 581 (293+288), just two points from his personal best.

Gold medal also for Baroncini Michele, senior male AN category, who starts the year by improving his personal score (obtained in December in Lagosanto) by 10 points and establishing the new company record with a score of 535 (262+273) .

Still in the senior AN category, an excellent result also for the women, where Donatella Domini placed firmly at the top of the rankings, winning the gold medal with a score of 470 (239+231).

The performances of the bare bow masters were very good and, at the beginning of the last round on Sunday, they had a monopoly on the podium with three placings. The inclusion of an athlete from the Matelica Archers (Carmine Mascolo) in first place transforms what could have been a hat-trick into a double. By just two points, Simone Pizzi sees the gold slip away and wins the silver medal with a score of 522 (262+260). Massimo Venturi was third with a score of 513 (250+263) who won the bronze. Unfortunately, Marcello Tozzola remains off the podium, finishing 4th with a score of 506 (252+254).

Gold medal for the team made up of Pizzi-Venturi-Tozzola with a score of 1541 (522+513+506).

Angela Padovani, who had already won the gold medal in Moglia on 7 January, with a score of 481 (242+239) in the AN women’s master class, returns to the first step of the podium. Also in the women’s category, fourth place goes to the Giallorossi, with Sabrina Bandini and a score of 433 (217+216).

In the Olympic men’s masters Tozzola was unable to replicate the podium obtained in Moglia last week (gold medal with a score of 559) and placed 6th with a score of 526 (265+261).

The results obtained over the weekend earn useful positions in the CI ranking, which will officially close on the weekend of January 27th and 28th.
