Brizuela sings in Euroleague against Zalgiris

Barça continues its full season since 2024 began and the Basque assumes honors without Laprovittola

MADRID, 12 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Barça beat Zalgiris Kaunas (91-73) this Friday on matchday 21 of the Euroleague held at the Palau Blaugrana, to defend second position in the table and its good progress since 2024 began, all victories.

Darío Brizuela was the man of the match, with 24 points, to mark his best night as a Barça player. The former Unicaja player, gaining prominence with the absence of Nicolás Laprovittola due to some discomfort, did almost everything he tried and was key to returning command to a Barça that became careless after a first set of 26-12.

Roger Grimau’s team thus stands at 15-6 at the top of the table, while those from Kaunas, under the direction of Andrea Trinchieri on the bench since the last day of 2023, do not leave the bottom zone. In addition to Brizuela, Jabari Parkar (18) made a difference again, along with Willy Hernangómez and Tomas Satoransky.

Barça had a performance similar to that of two days before against Olympiacos, somewhat irregular for 40 minutes and giving life to the rival, but Zalgiris did not put up such a fight. Those from Kaunas came back behind the score at times in the second quarter, but the culé team fixed the lack of control in time to maintain a good cushion.

Keenan Evans was the one who raised the Lithuanian bet, along with Edmond Sumner, and Barça had to fight to avoid giving more lives to a Zalgiris that, without being Olympiacos, demonstrated its danger. A more aggressive defense and Brizuela were in charge of cutting off the visiting wings and returning the inertia of the scoreboard to the locals.

Grimau’s team entered the final quarter with the game under control (68-57) and did not miss a new victory in a 2024 that is going strong, five in five games, although there is no respite.
