Biathlon: Martin Fourcade pays the international federation after a race canceled in Germany

Nearly four years after his retirement from sports, Martin Fourcade still very closely follows the sport that made him Olympic champion 5 times. Even if the French athlete with the most medals at the Olympics has been talking on stage in “Hors-Piste” for several months, he does not keep his tongue in his pocket when commenting on biathlon news. The 13-time world champion made fun of the international federation this Wednesday by questioning it on the choice of the Oberhof site in Germany for the Biathlon World Cup events this week. “How many years of spreading artificial snow on soggy ground? To follow your environmental commitments? Perhaps it is time to choose a site that corresponds to our times. »

Initially scheduled for this Thursday, January 4 afternoon in Oberhof, fourth stage of the Biathlon World Cup, the men’s sprint is postponed to the next day due in particular to too mild temperatures mixed with rain, the organizers announced this Wednesday. “Due to the current mild temperatures and rain, as well as the strong wind expected tomorrow (Thursday) in Oberhof, the competition program has been changed. The men’s sprint is now scheduled for Friday 5 at 11:20 a.m.,” indicated the International Biathlon Federation.

The men’s sprint event will therefore take place this Friday from 11:20 a.m. ahead of the women’s sprint which remains scheduled for 2:25 p.m. The schedule for the rest of the weekend has not yet been changed with pursuits planned for Saturday and relays on Sunday.
