Biathlon: cdm; in Anterselva Italy second in the mixed relay – Other Sports

Second place for Italy in the mixed relay at the biathlon world cup stage in Anterselva. The Italian quartet, made up of Dorothea Wierer, Lisa Vittozzi, Didier Bionaz and Tommaso Giacomel, was preceded only by the four athletes from Norway, who finished with an advantage of 22.3 seconds on the Val Pusteria route. Third place for Sweden.

The Italian quartet performed an excellent shooting performance with only five reloads used which, added to an excellent performance on skis, allowed them to remain in Norway’s wake. In the launch portion, Dorothea Wierer, aware of not being in the best condition, played her cards on the range, to pass the baton to Vittozzi in sixth place with 18″ 9 behind France. The Sappadina woman was the protagonist of an almost perfect performance which allowed her to climb the rankings and be the first to leave the second shooting range despite the need to use a reload. At mid-race Vittozzi is ahead of everyone. The men enter the scene and Didier Bionaz best compares with the experience of Tarjei B›, concluding his match with just 5″3 difference from the Norwegian, but at the same time pulling ahead of his pursuers, who slipped by over a minute with Sweden, the Czech Republic and Switzerland competing for third place. In the last stage Tommaso Giacomel holds the reigns with Johannes B›, but the Norwegian champion does not allow any possibility of returning and with a masterful final polygon he takes yet another success.

It is the ninth seasonal podium for the Italian biathlon this season and the statistics say that with today’s second place Dorothea Wierer reaches 80 podiums overall, Lisa Vittozzi at 50 while Tommaso Giacomel reaches 10. Tomorrow the Anterselva stage will take place complete with the mass starts: the men’s race is scheduled for 12.30pm, followed by the women’s at 2.45pm.
