Barça will sue Libero, a German investment fund, for non-payment of 40 million

Barça has made the decision to sue Liberto Football Finance AG for not having paid them the 40 million euros corresponding to the purchase of 10% of ‘Barça Visión’. It was a ‘lever’ that Joan Laporta’s board had designed through an operation with the company Bridgeburg Invest. But, in the end, it has not occurred, as revealed by the Efe Agency.

The Barcelona club should have received those 40 million, essential to expand the salary margin and be able to sign, both in summer and winter, before August 31. But not even a euro arrived, extending the deadline until December 31. The deadline, however, still has not occurred, so Barça has launched its legal machinery to obtain that money.

Meanwhile, Laporta’s board has begun to activate the search for other investors that will allow it to raise the 40 million that Libero, a German investment fund, stopped paying. Barça had initially sold 49% of ‘Barça Visión’, the company in charge of the creation, production and marketing of the club’s entire audiovisual offer to Socios.com and Orpheus Media in exchange for 200 million euros.

Although a change occurred last summer when Libero and NIPA repurchased 25% of that 49% to unblock the operation. But Libero has not taken charge of the 40 million that he should have paid in this acquisition, so Barça will go to court.

Víctor Font expresses his “great concern”

“The situation is serious and generates great concern”. This is how Víctor Font, the candidate who was defeated by Laporta in the March 2021 elections, received the news that Barça was suing Libero for non-payment of 40 million euros.

“Having carried out this operation quickly and hastily, with unknown partners and without any relevant experience in the audiovisual sector entailed these risks,” Font denounced on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

Font recalled that there are 400 million euros of “profits” linked to this operation, which could disappear suddenly, which would “open a very large asset hole again in the club and aggravate the situation of financial fair play.” .
