Bad weather: a Walloon province placed on orange rain alert

According to the IRM, cumulative precipitation of 25 l/m² in 24 hours will quickly be reached south of the Sambre et Meuse furrow. The accumulations will even exceed 50 l/m² and could reach 70 l/m² in 24 hours in the province of Luxembourg, implying the transition to orange vigilance. In total, total precipitation amounts will be between 70 and more than 130 l/m² very locally in 96 hours.

In the rest of Wallonia, values ​​above 50 l/m² should be expected in the north of the province of Namur and the west of the province of Liège and more than 100 l/m² in the south of Namurois. and on the Liège relief. In Hainaut, the accumulations will be closer to 50 to 70 or even 80 l/m². And in other regions of the country, we expect between 30 to 60 l/m² by the end of the week.

No alert has been issued by the Public Service of Wallonia regarding waterways, but the administration specifies that the situation can evolve quickly, mainly in the province of Luxembourg.

The IRM specifies that particular attention will also be paid to West Flanders, due to heavy rainfall expected in France and which risks having repercussions on the province’s waterways.
