Atalanta Bergamo midfielders Teun Koopmeiners and Marten de Roon know the next cup opponent

Atalanta Bergamo knows its next opponent on the way to the final of the Coppa Italia. The team recorded a great victory at AC Milan on Wednesday evening and will face Juventus in the semi-finals. The Old lady was much too strong for Frosinone on Thursday evening: 4-0. Three of the four goals were scored by former Ajax striker.

It has been more than seven years since Milik closed the door of the Johan Cruijff ArenA behind him. The Pole had a difficult start in Amsterdam, but was in excellent shape during the 2015/16 season and perhaps the standout player at Ajax. He scored 21 goals in 31 Eredivisie matches, although he could not prevent the team of then coach Frank de Boer from missing out on the national title on the last match day.

Milik nevertheless crowned a personally strong season with a nice transfer to Napoli. However, the left-footer has not been able to match the statistics from his last season in Amsterdam since his departure from Ajax. Milik permanently exchanged Napoli for Olympique Marseille in the summer of 2022, after having already played there for a year on loan. He returned to the Italian fields with Juventus last summer. The Old lady also already had him under contract for a season on loan.

Milik scored nine times for Juventus last season, but the tally only stood at two goals in all competitions before the start of the cup match against Frosinone. The Pole therefore mainly has to make do with raids. He was allowed to start again on Thursday evening and he repaid the trust of coach Massimiliano Allgeri with a great performance. Milik opened the scoring from a penalty after eleven minutes and scored his second before half time after an excellent pass from Weston McKennie. After the break the Pole quickly scored again. Manuel Locatelli awarded him his third of the evening and he even seemed to score his fourth shortly afterwards, but the VAR stopped it: offside.

The fourth goal for the team from Turin came a few minutes later. Not Milik, but Kenan Yildiz determined the final score at 4-0. Milik got his substitution in minute 62. Well deserved of course. He scored more times against Frosinone than in his first nineteen games of this season. Juventus, mainly thanks to Milik, qualified for the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia, in which it has to deal with Atalanta Bergamo for a place in the final battle. The other semi-final is between Fiorentina and Lazio.
