Arne Slot Reacts to Dismissal of José Mourinho and Pascal Jansen Before Vitesse vs Feyenoord Match

Arne Slot responded to the dismissal of José Mourinho (AS Roma) and Pascal Jansen (AZ) just before the kick-off of the match between Vitesse and Feyenoord. Both trainers were fired this week.

Until Tuesday, Mourinho was the trainer of Feyenoord’s opponent in the interim round of the Europa League. Roma fired the Portuguese coach due to the disappointing performance in the competition. As a result, Slot will not see Mourinho again.

Last season, Feyenoord was eliminated by Roma in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. Afterwards, Slot was berated by Mourinho, who believed that the Dutch trainer should not only look at clubs such as Napoli and Manchester City. A season earlier, Feyenoord lost the Conference League final against Mourinho’s Roma.

Despite his bad experiences with Mourinho, Slot has no grudges. “I find it very annoying for Mourinho. I would have enjoyed crossing swords with him again,” Slot said in front of the camera of ESPN. The Feyenoord coach also has sympathy for Jansen, with whom he worked in the past at AZ. “When a fellow trainer is fired, it is always very painful. Because I know how hard it is when you are fired.”
