Anderlecht’s Cup Quarter-Final Postponed Due to Winter Weather – Important Weeks Ahead

Due to the heavy winter weather, Anderlecht saw its quarter-final in the Croky Cup on the Union field postponed on Wednesday evening and they may not have been sad about that given the many injured people. They will hope to get some players back soon, because there are still some solid posters to come.

The cup match was postponed to next Thursday and just three days later another derby against Union follows, this time in the competition at Lotto Park. A week later they also received a visit from AA Gent.

Full house against Union and AA Gent

So important weeks are coming up for Anderlecht, but that can already be good news for the two top matches in their own stadium. After all, they let us know that both the match against Union and the match against Ghent are completely sold out.

This means that the Lotto Park will not be full for the first time this season. The good performances this season seem to have reignited the enthusiasm among the supporters.

Important weeks for Anderlecht

The cup match against Union and those two top players in the competition could well provide direction for Anderlecht’s ambitions this season. If they manage to eliminate their city rival in the cup, they can immediately compete in the semi-final against Club Brugge a week later.

In addition, Union and AA Gent are also the two closest competitors in the competition. Anderlecht is currently neatly between the two teams, with six points less than Union and four more than Ghent.
