Alpine Skiing: Frenchwoman Romane Miradoli third in the Cortina Super-G

The French women’s alpine ski team has its first podium of the season. Romane Miradoli took third place this Sunday in the Super-G in Cortina d’Ampezzo (Italy).

At 29, the Haut-Savoyarde, seriously injured last March with a rupture of the left anterior ligament, signed the third podium of her career in the World Cup. Third at 41 hundredths, she was only beaten by the Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami and the Austrian Stéphanie Venier, 2nd at 21 hundredths behind the winner of the day.

In December 2022, Romane Miradoli took third place in the Super-G in Saint-Moritz (Switzerland), a few months after a victory, again in a Super-G event, in Lenzerheide (Switzerland). On Saturday, the Frenchwoman took 10th place in the descent organized in the Italian resort. Her teammate Laura Gauché, at the foot of the podium on Saturday, achieved another good result this Sunday (11th).

The race was marked by numerous falls (10 runners did not finish the race, after 42 bibs), including the particularly impressive one of Valérie Grenier. In the running for a podium, the Canadian was violently sent into the net at the bottom of the course and had to be evacuated by emergency services. On Friday, it was the leader of the general classification of the World Cup, Mikaela Shiffrin who fell during the first descent of the weekend. The American was hit in the left knee but the first news is rather reassuring.
