Algeria Looks to Zinedine Zidane for New National Team Coach

After its premature elimination in the first round of the CAN in Ivory Coast, Algeria is actively looking for a new coach, following the recent departure of Djamel Belmadi. Hervé Renard, Vahid Halilhodzic and other names (Petkovic, Sampaoli…) are studied by Algerian leaders, with concrete exchanges. But, according to our information, the new strong man of the Algerian Federation, Walid Sadi, immediately thought of Zinédine Zidane (51), whose family ties with Algeria are known.

The former Real Madrid coach has been sounded out in recent hours to take over the Fennecs. Free from any contract, Zidane was flattered by the interest shown by his parents’ country but he declined the Algerian offer, as he recently refused Brazil or the United States. If he were to take over a selection, Zidane has never hidden that his priority would be on the Blues.
