Pep Guardiola has a good chance of being elected world coach. His competitors are Simone Inzaghi from Inter Milan and Luciano Spalletti, who won the first Italian championship in 33 years with SSC Napoli before becoming Italy’s national coach.

From 2010 to 2015, the election was jointly organized by FIFA and the newspaper France Football (Ballon d’Or). The award ceremonies have been separate again since 2016. Since then, FIFA has chosen its winners at “The Best FIFA Football Awards”. Often, but not always, the winners in previous years have been identical.
