Adrien Van Beveren, 2nd in the 5th stage of the Dakar: “I attacked hard”

Adrien Van Beveren (FRA, Honda – 2nd in the stage at 37″): “I attacked hard, I caught up with Ross (Branch) and I think I dropped my pace a little from that moment on . I don’t really know, actually, but I felt comfortable, the bike works really well, it really performs well in these conditions. It’s cool because I love the dunes so I decided nice. We’ll see the results because there are a lot of very fast drivers who started behind and they had more tracks than me. In any case there are a lot of dunes left and that bodes well for the two days that are coming. It can do beautiful things.”

Luciano Benavides (ARG, Husqvarna – 9th in the stage at 4’22”): “A bad day for me. My motorcycle stopped, I don’t know if it’s the engine or something else. I finished but in the last 5 kilometers my engine stopped 3 or 4 times. »

Jose Cornejo (CHL, Honda – 13th in the stage at 6’11”): “It wasn’t easy to open up in the dunes, I tried to do a good job and my teammate Ricky Brabec helped me joined around kilometer 50 and I think we worked well together. We will see if this allows me to stay in the Top 5 or 6 to have a good position to start tomorrow (Thursday) morning since the order of departures will be reversed. I hope I haven’t lost too much time and have a good stage tomorrow. »
