This Monday morning, we will attend the first round of the Adelaide tournament between Dusan Lajovic and Thanasi Kokkinakis. Historically, the 2 men have met 3 times and Lajovic has always been able to win, without conceding a single set from Kokkinakis. These two players have an almost similar level, but it still appears that Thanasi Kokkinakis shows a much better game than his opponent. During his career, he recorded a record of 166-93 on this surface. Last season, he won 31 of his 40 victories on hard courts, a real performance which now allows him to rank 65th in the world. The Australian, however, had a disappointing start to the season by being knocked out in the first round in Brisbane. But he reached at least the semi-finals during his three appearances in Adelaide and won the title in 2022. For his part, Dusan Lajovic begins his season with this tournament in Adelaide and will therefore not have played any official match before this first round. In case of victory, the winner will face Alexei Popyrin or Jiri Lehecka in the second round. Even though it has been nine years since he last faced Kokkinakis, the Serbian will come into this match with the hope of a victory. Lajovic recorded a record of 30 wins and 28 losses last season and won one title (Banja Luka tournament in Bosnia). The world number 52 does not perform very well on hard courts and will therefore not be favorite to win this match.
