A Cup qualification to seek, a transfer window to launch… Paris FC on all fronts

Before the resumption of Ligue 2 with the reception of Annecy on Saturday January 13 at Charléty, Paris FC will play its third 32nd final of the Coupe de France in four years, at Ales, 11th in group A of National 2. The season last time, he reached the round of 16 of this event (elimination by Annecy on penalties). During its first two rounds, facing two R1 teams, Villejuif (tab success) and Saint-Denis de la Réunion (3-1), the Parisian club had difficulty qualifying. “Alès is a quality team, whose motivation I have no doubt. For our part, if we don’t put in the necessary ingredients, we will fall by the wayside,” warns Stéphane Gilli.

But the team, which will be lined up this Saturday on the pitch at the Pierre Pibarot stadium, is set to evolve in the coming weeks. The long-term injured, Samir Chergui, Timothée Kolodziejczak, Paul Lasne, Julien Lopez and Lamine Gueye, will already return. They have hardly played since the start of the season so they can almost be considered rookies.

Paris FC will also be active during this January transfer window during which three to four recruits are expected. The priority is already to find two full-backs: a right to replace Sofiane Alakouch (ruptured cruciate ligaments, season over) and a left to compete with Jules Gaudin.

Guéla Doué will be loaned by Rennes

For the right side, it’s almost finalized. Unless the situation changes, Guéla Doué, 21, will arrive at the start of the week on loan from Rennes. This season, the Ivorian U23 international played 9 L1 and 2 Europa League matches. For the left side, as we revealed on December 31, the management of Paris FC is working on the return of Jaouen Hadjam who had been transferred (for 350,000 euros) to FC Nantes in January 2023. This season, the Algerian international of 20 years old, trained at PFC, was rarely used by the Canaries (8 matches, 1 start in L1). Discussions continue between the different parties.

An experienced player, currently playing in an L1 club, should also sign up very quickly. In terms of position and profile, his arrival was not necessarily planned but it is considered by the club as a great market opportunity.

The capital club is also studying the possibility of recruiting an additional offensive player. But only on condition that it brings “real added value”. It won’t be Warren Caddy, loaned to Annecy since August (4 goals in L2). The Savoyard club would like to break his loan and send him back to Paris FC. But in a position where Pierre-Yves Hamel and Lamine Diaby Fadiga are experiencing a small renaissance, Caddy no longer really fits into the plans. He has also resumed training with Annecy and cannot sign for another club, having already played this season in two teams (PFC, Annecy). As Paris FC does not wish to recover him, his only way out would be a new loan in a championship whose season begins in 2024, such as in the Nordic countries or the MLS.

In terms of departures, Paris FC will not follow up on the few approaches received for its flagship players, in particular Ilan Kebbal. But he could lend certain young people who, with the return of the injured and the reinforcements, will have more difficulty returning to the group than during the first part of the season.
