“Help, there’s a robbery!”. This is exactly what happened yesterday afternoon after 6.30 pm when a man, with his face covered by an FFP2 mask and a hat, entered thepost office in via Sciadonnagun in hand (later revealed to be fake), detonating some fuses and carrying a “homemade bomb” in his arms with the threat of detonating it.
At that moment at least 3 of the approximately 20 customers who were in the post office room (5 employees were also present), managed to leave the office and run towards the police stationin the building next door.

In this way the police officers managed to neutralize the robber, a 73 year old from Frascati. The man was arrested and taken to Velletri prison on charges of aggravated armed robbery.
After the arrest and after the people were quickly ushered out of the post office, the police also intervened on the spot. Frascati firefighters to analyze what the robber wanted to pass off as a rudimentary device with which to ask cashiers for money and which instead proved to be just a big bottle of those for gym food supplements in which it seems there was a little fuel and a thread coming out of the neck of the container.
The forensic team is also on site to investigate the case.
The man who, as mentioned, is a rather well-known man from Frascati, is now awaiting confirmation of his arrest in Velletri. The charge against him, including the fact that he was caught red-handed, is serious. The motive is unknown.
The news story caused great uproar in the city. The post office will return to normal service probably from tomorrow.
