After Skrzybski’s opening goal, Kiel failed to add any more goals. That took revenge: Braunschweig quickly switched gears after a Kiel corner, and Kaufmann completed the counterattack to make it 1-1. Even after the break the game remained open, Philippe decisively slotted the ball into the goal after a mix-up in the Kiel penalty area.

In Karlsruhe, fans paid tribute to Hertha BSC President Kay Bernstein on Tuesday with a choreography. There is a fan friendship between the two clubs, and the players wore mourning ribbons. The 21,077 spectators in the stadium also observed a minute’s silence.
