The Michigan Wolverines suffered a major blow to their 2025 recruiting class on Monday evening when four-star cornerback prospect Chris Ewald — the highest ranked player in Michigan’s class at No. 86 overall — announced he was decommitting from the program.
The 6-foot, 160-pounder from the state of Florida originally committed to Michigan in Dec. 2022, becoming the first committed player in Michigan’s 2025 class.
Being a kid from the south and being heavily recruited by programs like Georgia, Miami and Florida State — programs he set up visits for this month as opposed to Michigan — it was always going to be tough to hang onto Ewald’s commitment; it’s just a bummer it happened so soon.
Four-star quarterback Carter Smith, four-star defensive lineman Bobby Kanka and four-star tight end Eli Owens are the lone commits to the Wolverines in the 2025 cycle.
This is a developing story. Stick with Maize n Brew as more information comes out.
