A 20-year-old man has been sentenced by the Amsterdam court to one year in prison for the robbery of former Ajax player Dusan Tadic. The footballer was violently attacked by two men near his home in Amsterdam in the summer of 2022.

The court is convinced that Mohamed F. and his co-perpetrator (27) were waiting for the victim at his home. A GPS tracker was installed under Tadic’s car.

After the footballer got out, the pair chased him and then grabbed him by the neck. “This course of action must be regarded as being aimed at the completion of a planned robbery,” the court said.

“The court takes into account that the victim is a famous football player who is generally known to have expensive items, such as watches and the expensive Mercedes he was driving at the time.”

Slap in the face

Tadic tried to escape to his attackers. One of the men then punched him in the face. The Serbian footballer fled into a hotel and the pair fled on a scooter.

Detectives tracked down the suspects through video material from surveillance cameras in the area. About the co-perpetrator the court ruled last year that there was insufficient evidence against him for an attempted robbery, NH writes. However, he was sentenced to several months in prison for public violence.
