Zach Wilson Refuses to Start for New York Jets: What’s Next for the Rookie Quarterback?

Zach Wilson reportedly refused to take over as New York Jets’ starting quarterback for Game 13e week against the Atlanta Falcons.

This is what The Athletic website said on Monday, less than 24 hours after the Big Apple club’s 13-8 setback.

Wilson inherited the Jets’ starting role after Aaron Rodgers was injured in the opening game of the campaign. The 24-year-old pivot played behind center for the first 10 games of the season, but was replaced by Tim Boyle last week against the Miami Dolphins. He was replaced by Trevor Siemian in the second half of the duel against the Falcons.

It seems like the Jets would have liked to have Wilson back in charge before this game even started, but the first-round pick (second overall) in the 2021 draft didn’t want to.

In 10 games this year, Wilson has maintained a 3-6 record. He completed 59.2% of the passes he attempted for 1,944 yards and six touchdowns. The BYU Cougard product also had seven interceptions.

The Jets (4-8) will try to end a five-game losing streak against the Houston Texans next Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
