Yankees GM Brian Cashman: ‘Very Few Untouchables’ After 82-80 Season

Brian Cashman, general manager of the New York Yankees, told the MLB Winter Meetings that There are “very few untouchables” on the team after having an 82-80 campaign, marking their worst single-season record since 1992.

Cashman’s response was in response to a question about whether second baseman Gleyber Torres, who is eligible for free agency after the 2024 season, would be available via trade.

These statements by Cashman come amid continued rumors and speculation connecting the Yankees to San Diego Padres superstar Juan Soto.

Cashman made it clear in his comments that he believes the talent on the Yankees is capable of better performance.but simply put, the team barely managed to finish above .500, and changes will be made.

Juan Soto, 25, a three-time All-Star, would be a good start, even if the price is high. The same goes for the acquisition of Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the star Nippon Professional Baseball pitcher who has been coveted by the Yankees.

Cashman acknowledged that the Yankees’ season was “a disaster”

Cashman also admitted that “it’s been a disaster” and promised a search to discover the cause. “It’s definitely a shock,” Cashman said. “We are embarrassed by this”.

Cashman said all options will be examined when looking at injuries, evaluation and poor performance. “There will definitely be a lot of internal evaluations carried out”.
