Women’s World Handball Championship: the funny dance of the French women before lifting their trophy

We want to see the same dance again in Paris next summer. After their victory against Norway (31-28) in the final of the Women’s Handball World Cup this Sunday, the Blues offered a few dance steps on the podium before lifting their third World Cup, 20 years after their first coronation.

At the helm of the choreography, Estelle Nze Minko, the captain, trophy in hands. The hand above the eyes to mime a visor and steps from right to left, going faster and faster. Before finally lifting this World Cup while jumping for joy in all directions. A scene that is enough to make you smile. The Blues then gently cradled the trophy to the tune of “We are the champions” by Queen.

“I knew we were capable of winning, but to experience it is something else. We have worked a lot after a difficult 2022. We added a third star, 20 years later. I am so proud, stunned and happy at the same time,” enthused the captain of the French team on TMC at the end of the meeting.

The Norwegians KO

The French handball players won their third world title seven months before the Paris Olympic Games after a perfect run concluded in style against Queen Norway (31-28) on Sunday in Herning (Denmark).

Twenty years after their first planetary coronation, six years after their second and a year and a half after the Olympic title won in Tokyo, the Blues put France a little further at the top of handball, where until now the Norwegians, stunned on the podium during the trophy ceremony.

Double European champions and reigning world champions, the Scandinavians this time were unable to shatter the dreams of glory of the French, as they did in the final of Euro-2020 (22-20), from World Cup-2021 (29-22) and in the semi-finals of Euro-2022 (28-20).
