Guest of the “Hugo Sanchez presents” programme, the Mexican striker, now at PSV Eindhoven, talked about his first period spent in blue with the Calabrian coach: “He didn’t know me, he didn’t even know where I played”
He arrived in Naples in the summer of 2019, expressly wanted by Carlo Ancelotti who, however, in December of that same year was kicked out and replaced by Rino Gattuso who, however, Hirving Lozano didn’t see him at all. This is why the first period in blue was a real nightmare for the Mexican striker. “It was terrible, I was crying desperately, with my wife consoling me, because when you realize that you are better than others and they don’t give you a chance, you continually ask yourself ‘why don’t they put me in prison?'” he said. Lozano on the «Hugo Sanchez Presenta» program on Star+, retracing some moments of his career including, in fact, the period in Naples, which culminated with the conquest of the scudetto. But before that success, achieved by Luciano Spalletti, there was the Calabrian coach.

«He didn’t know me and he didn’t even know where I played – continued the Mexican striker -. He never asked me anything. When he arrived, he started changing players and he never used me. As a footballer, when you experience moments like that you think: “Wow, things aren’t going well here.” In fact, I was always on the bench with him.” Today, a fundamental player for PSV Eindhoven, the team that launched him into major football after his arrival in Europe in 2017 and which is now dominating Dutch football with 16 victories in as many matches and 10 points ahead of Feyenoord, so far Lozano has made 14 appearances and 5 goals (with 2 assists).
