Willem II strengthened its leading position in the Kitchen Champion Division on Friday. The Tilburg team won the Brabant derby at NAC Breda 1-2. FC Groningen reversed a deficit against Jong FC Utrecht.

Jeredy Hilterman led Willem II to victory against NAC, for which he played for several months last year. The attacker opened the scoring with a header in the ninth minute. A minute later he floored Rowan Besselink with a hard tackle, for which he was booked.

After more than half an hour, Hilterman also made it 0-2. This time he finished after attempts by Jeremy Bokila and Nick Doodeman had not gone in. Thomas Marijnissen brought back the tension in the final phase, but a point was no longer possible for NAC.

Thanks to the victory, leader Willem II now has a seven-point lead over number two Roda JC. The Limburgers will visit Helmond Sport on Saturday.

FC Groningen reverses the deficit

In the Euroborg, FC Groningen won after trailing 2-1 against Jong FC Utrecht. Jesse van de Haar surprisingly gave the Domstedelingen the lead shortly before half time, but in the second half Groningen put things in order through goals from Laros Duarte and Romano Postema.

Thanks to the victory, FC Groningen takes over sixth place from SC Cambuur, which lost 3-1 at FC Den Bosch. The Frisians played the last half hour with ten men due to a second yellow card for Floris Smand. Den Bosch recorded its first victory since September 29.

VVV-Venlo was too strong for Telstar 2-1 in front of its own audience and MVV Maastricht defeated bottom group TOP Oss 2-0. De Graafschap-Jong PSV was canceled because the field at De Vijverberg was unplayable due to heavy rain.
