The supporters have once again left their mark on this Clasico in a very bad way. By the editorial team Published on 08/12/2023 at 07:48
Sporting Anderlecht won their round of 16 match of the Belgian Cup 2-0 against Standard de Liège on Thursday evening at Lotto Park. Goals from Mario Stroeykens (31st) and Anders Dreyer (51st) allowed the Mauves to qualify for the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, this Clasico was marked by excesses at the end of the match.

While the score was already 2-0 in the 87th minute, the referee had to interrupt the match for around ten minutes following projectiles being thrown onto the pitch. Rouches supporters notably tore down seats from Lotto Park to throw them onto the pitch. Smoke bombs and firecrackers were also set off in both camps. A supporter in a wheelchair was reportedly hit and injured in the leg during these excesses.
