The reason was the invasion of the field by the sugar fans, who, faced with the arbitration decisions of the match, acted violently against the protagonists of the game.

The match that was 2-0 in favor of Junior de Barranquilla had to be suspended after 75 minutes. In principle, they waited to resume the game, but finally it had to be ended, since there were no guarantees to continue the commitment.

Everything broke out in the 75th minute, although the Deportivo Cali fans were already enraged from the first minutes, after the central referee sent off Gustavo Adrián Ramírez in a rather controversial play.

However, the situation became unsustainable after in the 75th minute, when Junior was already winning 2-0, the VAR annulled a goal that would have meant Cali’s discount.

At first, the referee couldn’t even get close to the screen to verify the play. But, later, when he annulled the goal due to apparent offside and obstruction of the vision of Junior’s goalkeeper, the Cali fans entered the field, forcing the suspension of the game.

The incident dragged on for a long time, as the protagonists of the engagement could not leave the field, since the sugar fans damaged the tunnel that led to the dressing rooms. Furthermore, the police took a long time to arrive, which increased the lack of control in the stadium.

And when the escort arrived, the referees and Junior players, they failed, as several objects hit the faces of those affected as they left the field.
