The last to see him were his work colleagues at the Azimut agency in Piazza Giorgione, in Castelfranco Veneto, where he has worked for many years. Once he left the office for a meeting he was supposed to attend, in Padua, there was a void: his mobile phone was turned off and no trace of him had been found (since 1pm yesterday, Thursday 30 November). There are hours of anguish for the fate of Diego Perocco, a 60-year-old financial consultant, known throughout the Castellana area for his occupation but even more known for his great passion for basketball, both as a manager and as a coach in many formations throughout the Veneto.
The missing person report and searches
Today Perocco’s family, his wife and two children (including a young basketball player in the local basketball team who plays in Serie D), worried about the fate of the 60-year-old, filed a missing person report at the Castelfranco police station. The prefecture of Treviso, as per practice, activated the protocol for missing persons, issuing a note to facilitate the searches which were immediately started by the police and firefighters, continued throughout the day and were only suspended in the evening. They will resume tomorrow.
The description
The missing man, says the description, is approximately 175 centimeters tall, with a thin build and light complexion, has short dark brown hair and green eyes. He has no tattoos, marks or scars. At the time of his departure he was wearing a light blue shirt, light brown sweater, brown trousers and blue jacket. “Anyone who spots the interested party or can report useful information for the purposes of the searches currently underway is asked to contact 112”, recommends the prefecture. In Castelfranco, in these hours, there is talk of nothing else: Perocco, well-known and highly esteemed, was currently manager of AP Castelfranco 1952, the local basketball team for which he had previously played the role of coach. In this capacity he led numerous teams, both male, including Cittadella, and female, including Ponzano Veneto.
