A tragic incident occurred during Monday’s NBA game between the Sacramento Kings and the New Orleans Pelicans (117:127). A fan collapsed and died despite medical treatment. The Kings announced this.

The Kings told CNN that during the first quarter of the game against the Pelicans, a fan suffered a “medical emergency” and emergency medical services attempted to resuscitate him.
“Tragically, these efforts were unsuccessful and the guest died,” continued the statement from the current fifth-place team in the Western Conference. “The organization extends its deepest condolences to the guest’s family and loved ones.”
Kings star Keegan Murray (23) was asked about the incident after the game and admitted: “We didn’t know. As a team, we offer our condolences to his family and hope that his loved ones are being looked after.” The game continued as normal during resuscitation attempts, but the players only learned of the tragedy afterwards.

According to police, the victim was a man around 30 years old. After about 20 minutes, he was confirmed dead. Particularly tragic for the Kings: It was a historic day for the franchise, they were playing for their first participation in the Final Four of the NBA in-season tournament.
