Striker Timo Werner (27) is allowed to leave RB Leipzig on loan in the winter. Sports director Rouven Schröder (48) told him this in a personal conversation (BILD reported exclusively).
This means: In the next few days and weeks, Werner will have to decide where he wants to fight for his return to the national team and his ticket to the European Championship. But which clubs are actually suitable for Werner?
Stuttgart: Werner once grew up at VfB. And the striker is still very close to his former club, for which he stormed until 2016 (103 games/14 goals). Coach Sebastian Hoeneß (41) knows Werner from Leipzig, where Hoeneß was a youth coach until 2017. Although VfB has no need in attack, there is still a risk of the departure of Serhou Yadaly Guirassy (27), who can leave the club in the winter with an exit clause of 17.5 million euros. Then there would be a place available in the squad. Also interesting: According to BILD information, Werner is currently building a house in Stuttgart. Frankfurt: Recently there were rumors that Eintracht was interested. According to BILD information, there is no truth to ManU’s alleged interest. However: Werner had not yet received clearance in Leipzig either. And the transfer window doesn’t open until January 1st.

Finding a new club shouldn’t be that easy. Werner still has a good reputation, but recently he has not been able to build on his strong first years at RB (95 goals in 159 Bundesliga games between 2016 and 2020).
In addition: With an estimated 10 million euros, he is one of the biggest earners at RB. It is possible that Leipzig would have to cover part of his salary if he were to go on loan.

Werner should generate returns at RB Leipzig
With more playing time in Leipzig or at another club, he could recommend himself to national coach Julian Nagelsmann (36) again. And stand in the shop window. Because Werner, for whom RB transferred around 20 million euros to Chelsea in the summer of 2022, should generate returns sooner or later. That’s why, according to BILD information, the club doesn’t want to sell it in its current form, but rather just lend it out.
