Toulouse FC defender Moussa Diarra delivered a very solid performance. The 23-year-old Malian showed his physical power to thwart the offensives of Mohamed El Amine Amoura and Alessio Castro-Montes. The second period and the lack of ambition of Téfécé
Authors of a solid first period, the Violets had much more difficulty in the second half. Carles Martinez’s men had great difficulty creating chances and being dangerous. The Toulouse residents came close to defeat on several occasions and can thank the lack of efficiency and realism of the Union Saint-Gilloise attackers in the face of their goal. TFC only shot four times on goal this evening, being at home, and conceded eleven opposing shots. Far too much for a team which played in front of its home crowd and which could leave its evening opponent with six points in the event of a victory. Thijs Dallinga’s teammates, lacking juice and energy in the last half hour, were clearly content with this draw.
The lack of efficiency and realism of the two teams
The least we can say is that the attackers of the two teams were not successful this evening. At the forefront of the Toulouse attack, Niklas Schmidt and Thijs Dallinga only had three shots on goal during the entire match, with only one shot on target. On the Belgian side, the Saint-Gilloise offensive players at least had chances, but were sorely lacking in efficiency. Mohamed El Amine Amoura and Cameron Puertas missed huge opportunities, especially at the end of the match (73rd, 90th), which would certainly have allowed the USG to win in the Pink City.
