The Lions of the 8th: Ambitious Plans for Archery Success in 2024

Three individual medals at the last France, a historic promotion to the National Compound Bow Division (DNAP) for men, behind-the-scenes work on the structuring of the largest Rhone club (161 members), particularly regarding this new project. closed room at Clos Layat… The Lions of the 8th were very active in 2022-2023, but still want to grow for the current one, which will mark their 35th anniversary in 2024.

The indoor season is first and foremost an individual affair, and the club chaired by Laurent Beaudroit hopes to improve its total of three regional medals in compound arch and one medal at the national level. But in the spring, collective ambitions will regain the upper hand and move up a notch thanks to the provision of valuable reinforcements. In outdoor archery at 70 m, both men and women will aim for the top of the basket in the regional excellence division (3rd national level), in order to play in the finals and promotion to the second division. A third team, partly to strengthen the youngest, will be registered in the regional honor division. And all eyes will obviously be on the men’s compound team for its entry into the elite, where it will be a question of maintaining its position, without playing extras.

A new full-time employee in September 2024

But the main focus of development will be on the course teams (countryside, 3D, nature), where the national finals will be targeted. The women’s team will rely in particular on the two national medalists, Estelle Thoris (bare bow) and Jade Leclercq (recurve bow), as well as its young compound archer Estelle Montoya. Their male counterparts will aim for a 3rd qualification in a row for the French championships, with this promising youth supervised by an experienced barebow archer, Bourhane Joumni.

“The management team, expanded by five new ones, continues the structuring and development of the club. We are actively looking for new strong partners to support our teams engaged on the national circuits and to confirm the recruitment of a new full-time employee for the start of the school year in September 2024,” underlines President Laurent Beaudroit, who still expects to refuse license requests on the eve of the Paris Olympic Games.
