The Future of Tennis: A Potential ‘Premium’ Circuit and the Impact on Players

In recent days, journalist Jon Wertheim has mentioned the existence of discussions between the four Grand Slam tournaments about a possible “premium” circuit, integrating the Masters 1000, while the ATP and the WTA would only retain “crumbs”: the ATP 500 and 250.

Questioned by the Sydney Morning Heraldthe 10th world player Taylor Fritz validated the concept.

“It’s a very good idea, and I think we should have separate circuits. If you’re on the main tour, you should be able to participate in all the big events, and they should be slightly larger draw events so that everyone in the top 100 can participate, and I think that That’s honestly all we should be playing. Having 14 major events would make tennis easy for fans to follow because it’s only those tournaments that get attention. And the schedule would be less crazy”
