Three weeks ago, Tottenham Hotspur were still at the top of the English Premier League table. The team was undefeated, had defeated Manchester United and Arsenal FC and wrested a point from Liverpool FC. And all of this without Harry Kane, who moved to FC Bayern Munich before the season. Remarkable.

It wasn’t even noticeable that he wasn’t there anymore. Instead of Kane, Heung-min Son and James Maddison came up trumps and they proved to be a congenial duo. Even without Kane, coach Ange Postecoglou had formed a team that could compete at the top. Or so it seemed.
