Success for Fuegian Archers at National Archery Final in Paraná

Last weekend the city of Paraná witnessed the exciting national final of archery in its outdoor form, an event organized by Tiro con Arco Paraná and carried out in the picturesque town of Oro Verde.

BIG RIVER.- This annual competition represents the zenith of the national calendar and brings together the country’s greatest exponents in the exciting sport of archery, achieving a participation record with more than 260 competitors. In this edition we highlight the extraordinary growth in the participation of Fuegian archers, with six representatives from the Uyana Jacu school of the El Palomar Club of Ushuaia.

Until last year, only two archers had managed to qualify to participate in this prestigious final, but in 2023 this figure tripled, underlining the sustained growth of archery in our province. This increase in participation is a clear indicator of the effort and dedication of the school category archers to advance to competitive categories.

Our representatives were:

Senior Men’s Longbow: Marcelo Barceló.

Male Composite 50+: Jorge Ramírez.

Women’s Recurve 50+: Gabriela González.

Men’s Recurve 50+: Juan Bauer.

Senior Men’s Recurve: Federico Liborio and Víctor Bibé.

During the finals, the archers competed both individually and in teams by region (Central, North, South, Coastal and Patagonia), forming teams of the best archers from each region for the Recurve, Raso and Compound divisions.

We highlight the excellent individual performance of all our goalkeepers, especially Jorge Ramírez, who reached the semifinals securing a creditable fourth place.

In the Senior Men’s Recurve category, Federico Liborio and Víctor Bibé, together with Federico Ferrero (Arqueros del Comahue, Neuquén), formed the Patagonian team, reaching fourth position.

Likewise, Jorge Ramírez, along with Walter Sabado (Círculos de Arquero de la Comarca, Viedma) and Miguel Ayroldi (Club de Arquería Andino Patagónico, Esquel), made up the team in the 50+ Men’s Composite category, taking the bronze medal.

In the Mixed Senior Recurve category the duo formed by Wanda Arca (Arqueros del Comahue, Neuquén) and Víctor Bibé stood out with a silver medal and were crowned national runners-up.

It is important to note that our archers went from training in the low temperatures of November to competing in high temperature and humidity conditions, demonstrating their versatility and commitment to the sport.

With these results, the talent and dedication of the Fuegian archers is evident, consolidating their presence on the national archery scene.
