Little by little, the Aube/Haute-Marne departmental committee is making its nest. Until now, his appearances in competitions bringing together the best young people from the Grand Est had mainly had the virtues of learning and observation. This weekend, young people from Aubois and Haut-Marnais who had been selected to participate in the 1st Regional Youth Trophy of the season in Mulhouse did better than defend themselves.
First of all, for the first time, there were four of them. Alongside the Trojan cadet Quentin Pellerej, rather “accustomed” to this type of game, Gabin Pesme (PL Troyes) and the Chaumontaises Elsa Comte and Manon Vollot made their baptism among the chicks. Convincing entries, especially for the two girls, who returned from Alsace each with a bronze medal around their necks.
The final wasn’t that far away
Elsa Comte, second in her group in chicks 2 behind the future winner Ana Hengy (top 6 France), lost in the semi-final against Meredith Réveillon (Kembs), against whom she narrowly lost last August, during the Top Elite. This time again, the blow came close for the young Haut-Marnaise (21-23, 18-21), crowned departmental champion in Bar-sur-Aube seven days earlier.
For Manon Vollot, entered in Chicks 1, the second place obtained at the end of the group matches (one victory and one defeat) also forced her to face the first in the other group. Facing the young Bisontine Zélie Daval, future winner of the competition, the young Chaumontaise undoubtedly delivered one of her best matches since the start of the season, without victory nevertheless (18-21, 17-21).
On the Trojan side, Gabin Pesme did not manage to get out of his group. As for Quentin Pellerej, he was eliminated in the quarter-final by Théo Epp (Bas-Rhin), seeded No. 1 and future winner of the cadet category.
