The Áureo Caixote Sports Complex in Apucarana, hosted this Saturday and Sunday (02 and 03/12), with the presence of 134 athletes in the male and female categories, the 2nd stage of the Copa Norte de Badminton. The competition, which closed the season of the Paraná Federation, had the support of the Municipal Sports Department of the City Hall and included athletes from the cities of Apucarana, Londrina, Maringá, Cornélio Procópio, Paranavaí and Foz do Iguaçu.
The Apucarana team, led by professor Alysson Namba, had a blast in the competition, as they won 42 medals, 14 gold, 16 silver and 12 bronze. During the two days of competition, 201 games were played in 52 categories, involving children, teenagers, young people and adults.
“I congratulate all the participants who were present in our city at the Copa Norte and especially the Apucarana team, coached by professor Allyson Namba, who does an excellent job in the sport. It was a wonderful event in a sport that brings together many families and athletes of different ages”, highlights Professor Tom Barros, municipal secretary of Sports.
“After many years, we are once again holding a stage of the Copa Norte in our city. The competition was a success, athletes from Apucarana stood out in their categories and competitors from other municipalities praised the organization of the event. I am grateful for the support of Mayor Junior of Femac and the various businesspeople from Apucaran who helped us promote this competition”, said Alysson Namba, who coordinated the sporting event.
Highlight in the competition for the Apucaran family formed by Alcides, Patrícia, Lucas and Maria Vitória Favaretto. Alcides and Patrícia (father and mother) were champions in the mixed doubles in the 45+ category. Alcides also achieved second place in the pair with his son Lucas in the male category C and also achieved second place in the individual 45+.
Lucas was also champion in the mixed doubles in the under-15 category, partnering with an athlete from Londrina. Patrícia obtained second place in the 45+ women’s pair competing with Lourdes da Cruz and also achieved third place in the 45+ category. Maria Vitória (daughter of Alcides and Patrícia) achieved third place in the under-11 individual and the title in the female doubles competing alongside an athlete from Foz do Iguaçu.
The competition this weekend was promoted by the Paraná Badminton Federation and also had the support of the Apucarana Cultural and Sports Association (Acea) and the Escola Nipo Brasileira.
