Success at the III Alhama Judo Cup: Local Judokas Shine and Secure Seven Medals

The III Alhama Judo Cup held last Saturday brought together nearly 200 judokas from the children’s and cadet categories. The competition was the first scoring competition this season to access the national championship in these categories.

The best judokas in the Region, accompanied by a large audience, were able to observe the young promises of this sport who showed a high level throughout the day, highlights the Alhama Judo Club in a press release.

The competition was organized by the Judo Federation, with the collaboration of the Sports Department of the Alhama City Council and the Alhama Judo Club.

Seven medals for local judokas

As for the local athletes, they had a great performance, obtaining a total of 7 medals from 8 participants, which shows the good form of the Alhameño judokas. The aspect to improve was in the 3 lost finals in the women’s categories, which had to settle for silver despite excellent performances.

In the male cadet category -55 kilos, Javier García performed, who had a brilliant competition by winning all his fights by “ippon” (the highest score) with the “seoi otoshi” technique, and winning at this weight.

Adnán Chakir, who was making his debut in this type of events, participated in the same category. The judoka showed good manners and finished in fifth place.

In cadet -66 kilos, Pedro Martínez performed, who also had an outstanding performance and entered without complications until the semifinal in which he lost against Dorian Campos (Cartagena). In the dispute for bronze he won by “ippon” with a brilliant “seoi otoshi”.

In women, the first to perform were Caroline Houdusse and Daniela Pagán, who reached their respective semifinals in children’s -48 kilos, although they did not make it to the final. However, in the dispute for bronze, both defeated rivals from San Javier and Molina de Segura with authority, respectively.

In the female children’s weight -52 kilos, Laura Andreo beat rivals from San Javier and Almería to reach the final, in which she was second against Ayla García (Murcia).

In the female cadet -57 kilos, Andrea López also reached the final, being second against her rival from Molina de Segura.

In the female cadet -63 kilos, the last final came with Alhameñas, where Oumayma Daoudi beat Lucía López and Esther Carrillo, taking silver against Celia García-Alcaraz.

As a summary, it can be concluded that the year ends with good expectations for 2024, where our judokas will have the Spanish Cup in Tortosa (Catalonia) in the month of January, concludes the Judo Alhama press release.
