Success and Camaraderie at the Judo Christmas Trophy

Last Sunday, the La Torre Sports Center hosted the Judo Christmas Trophy, sponsored by the León City Council and the Leonese Judo Delegation, in which selected judokas from the province, belonging to federated clubs in Castilla y León, took part, giving a recital of good judo, in which courtesy and camaraderie prevailed in all combats, from the smallest to the oldest.

A large group of beginner judokas, who have not yet competed, opened the day with a warm-up followed by games, study of falls, wrestling on the ground and projections, with the aim of getting them used to the sports center and the competition, but above all, begin to remove the first fears of appearing in public, which was also helped by the stands full of fans who came to witness this event.

Nearly 300 athletes from the Blume clubs in Ponferrada. Anejas and Kyoto from the capital fought two matches on three simultaneous tatami mats.

All participants received a commemorative medal and the champions a trophy as a souvenir of their victory.

The fights were directed by qualified referees from the Castilla y León Arbitration College, with 19 candidates carrying out the practices of sports organization officials to obtain the qualification that accredits them in their first step towards obtaining a title as a referee, whose course at the regional level is It was held in León on December 3 with the attendance of 36 applicants from Segovia, Ávila, Burgos, Valladolid and León.

Furthermore, and as usual, this Christmas tournament served as the starting signal for the provincial judo season as happens every year in the Lepnesa Delegation.
