Bekasi (ANTARA) – Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae Yong confirmed that there will be around 30 Indonesian national team players leaving for training camp (TC) in Turkey to prepare for the 2023 Asian Cup.
“Approximately 30 players have been brought to (training camp) in Turkey. At least January 1 is the latest that all players will join,” said Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae Yong to reporters, Thursday.
Shin Tae Yong revealed that currently there are 50 players who have been called up to the Garuda team squad and have been registered for the 2023 Asian Cup. However, these 50 names will later be shortlisted to depart for the Turkish TC which will take place on December 20.
“Indeed, there will be preparations for a training camp in Turkey on December 20. The preparations are ready. There are 50 players for the first list (in the 2023 Asian Cup),” said the coach from South Korea.
Among the 50 players who have been registered, Shin Tae Yong confirmed that Justin Hubner could join the Red and White team in a series of training camps later.
While in Turkey, the Indonesian national team is scheduled to play two test matches against the Libyan national team which will play two matches on January 2 and January 5.
After facing Libya, Indonesia will fly to Qatar and play its final test match against Iran on January 9.
“As far as I know, it remains January 9 (against Iran). So far there has been coordination with the Iranian federation. For the Libyan opponent, there are no other opponents that can be looked for while in Turkey. For Doha, the only thing we can look for is Iran,” said Shin Tae Yong.
The Indonesian national team is scheduled to be in Türkiye until January 6. The 2023 Asian Cup will take place in Qatar from 12 January to 10 February 2024. Indonesia is in group D along with Iraq, Japan and Vietnam.
