Stefanos Tsitsipas is still waiting for his first Grand Slam title

It has now been a good five years since Stefanos Tsitsipas introduced himself to the world public at the Australian Open with his round of 16 victory over Roger Federer. Since then, the Greek has reached two Grand Slam finals, but he still has to wait for a major success.

And the chances of Tsitsipas adding a Grand Slam trophy to his resume definitely haven’t increased. On the one hand, there is Novak Djokovic, who is hard to avoid at the biggest tournaments. On the other hand, youngsters like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have also overtaken the man from Athens.

If Tsitsipas actually wants to compete for the title at Grand Slam tournaments, he has to reinvent himself to a certain extent. The 25-year-old’s backhand has repeatedly proven to be a major weak point in the past and his serve also worked far too rarely in big matches.

Tsitsipas will open the new season at the United Cup, and the first big highlight will of course be the Australian Open (January 14th to 28th). The world number six reached the final in Melbourne last season. So the pressure is on if Tsitsipas doesn’t want to lose further ground to the competition in the rankings.
