Last weekend the Puebla de Sánchez Pérez sports hall hosted the start of the Extremadura archery season, which started the 2023-2024 academic year with the Extremadura Indoor Championship. Organized by the Sansonia Archers Clubfrom the town of Perana, had the participation of 75 archers of teams from across the region.
The competition consisted of two qualifying rounds prior to the one-on-one matches, from which the champions of the different categories emerged. Subsequently, the team competition was held with the four best in each modality.
In compound bow, the Extremadura indoor champions are Antonio Ramasfrom the Sansonia Archers Club, and Rachel of Saint Macarius, from the San Jorge Archers Club. They accompanied the first one on the podium José Luis Patino (Sansonia) and César Manuel Bermejo (Saint George). The women’s podium was completed Laura Rubio y Fátima Agudoboth from San Jorge.
In veterans (over 50 years old) the three best have been, Miguel Ramas (Arco la Zarza), Miguel Alberto Vicente (SD Archery Villar del Rey) and Manuel Villa (Bellotarco Club).
In recurve bow, where the competition was mixed, the podium in the senior category was made up of José Esteban Vaquero (Ibn Marwan), Raul Calvo (AD Moral) and Juan Carlos Moreno (Badajoz archery club). Meanwhile, in novel the three best were Antonio Retamal, Victoria Pineda y Adolfo Sanchez, all from the Badajoz Archery Club. In junior they got on the box Sofia Peral (AD Moraleja) accompanied by Daniel Caballero y Jara Santano, those of Ibn Marwan. And in those under 14 years old, the first three places went to Jose Luis Abad, Alicia Vazquez y Alejandro Naranjo.
In a traditional arch the podium was formed by Javier Carrero, Aureliano Sánchez y Juan Antonio Pérez in masculine; Ana Isabel Calvo y Maria Isabel Garcia in feminine; and Manuel Sánchez,Pedro Mendez y Angel Delgado in veterans.
In Longbow the best three were Candido Parejo, Ivan Muriel y Francisco Javier Martinez in senior and Jose Maria Benitez, Enrique Navarro y Pedro Robustillo in veterans. In Barebow he won Francisco Ramos in front of José Miguel Pascual y Jose Zarza.
As for the team competition, the gold went to the Club Arqueros San Jorge de Cáceres in compound (Fátima Agudo and César Bermejo) and traditional (Ana Calvo and Javier Correo). AD Moraleja with Sofía Peral and Raúl Calvo prevailed in the appeal.
The next Extremadura Championship will be the Indoor 3D Championship, which will be held in Badajoz on Sunday, January 14.
