Seo Seung-jae Aims for Gold at World Tour Finals After Being Named BWF ‘Male Player of the Year’

Seo Seung-jae, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) ‘Male Player of the Year’, aims to win a gold medal at the World Tour Finals. Although he was eliminated from the main event, he showed his all-round ability.

Seo Seung-jae was selected as ‘Male Athlete of the Year’ at the World Tour Gala held on the 11th. He is the first male athlete to receive this award since Kim Dong-moon (currently a professor at Wonkwang University) in 2002 and 2003. He was recognized for his outstanding performance in the doubles group, including winning two consecutive doubles titles at the World Championships for the first time in history. Although they did not make it to the finals of the mixed doubles event in this final, they will challenge for the top spot in the men’s doubles event.

Ahn Se-young, a leading Korean badminton player, suffered a bitter defeat in the semifinals, losing 1-2 to Tai Tzu-ying (Taiwan).
