Schalke’s Last Chance: Pressure Mounts for Players in Fight Against Relegation

Everything for the Schalke rescue!

After the 4-0 win against ultra-weak Osnabrück team, Schalke’s sports director André Hechelmann (39) and coach Karel Geraerts (41) increased the pressure on the professionals of the crisis club (relegation place 16). The last games of the first half of the season in Rostock (December 10th) and against Fürth (December 15th) will also be games of fate internally.

If you don’t deliver, you have to go: reprieve for these Schalke stars!

► Central defender Marcin Kaminski (31) and the midfield additions Ron Schallenberg (25) and Paul Seguin (28) can still fight their way off the expulsion list. They are required to sustainably confirm their useful performances against VfL.

► The full-backs Thomas Ouwejan (27/last suspended) and Cédric Brunner (29), who may only be allowed to appear in short appearances, are under huge pressure. Their contracts expire in the summer, which further increases the tendency for bosses to change over the winter. Schalke would still collect a little money.

Midfielder Lino Tempelmann (24/currently injured) also gets a maximum of one joker chance to overcome the growing doubts.

► Attacker Sebastian Polter (32) and defender Timo Baumgartl (27) are probably not even substituted. But for both, the should-or-can-go tendency is already clear.

Schalke’s ejection casting. Afterwards, there will be unpleasant to tough conversations with the stars who have been sorted out – as we hear from the management floor.
