Sauber to Reveal New Team Name for Next Season

The Swiss team Sauber raced under the name Alfa Romeo in recent seasons. However, starting next season, it will have a new name, which has not yet been confirmed.

After Sauber and Alfa Romeo announced that their partnership, which included the team name, would end this season, it was assumed that the Hinwil-based organization would return to its original identity (until the team officially changes in 2026 in Audi).

However, the Swiss team boss has now hinted that a return to the Sauber name for the next two seasons may not be entirely certain – although in the end it will most likely be a combination of the Sauber name and the name of the title partner.

“In Formula 1, the team name also depends on business partnerships,” Reuters quoted Alessandro Alunni Bravi as saying at the Autosport awards on Sunday night.

“We will announce our new name on December 10, once the FIA publishes the entry list for next season. I think it will be a surprise. We can’t wait to start working with our new partners. We will have, I think, a really new approach in terms of communication and marketing. We will be introducing the new car in Great Britain,” added Alunni Bravi.

For the sake of completeness, “Sauber” will not be the only team to bear a new name. As previously announced, the AlphaTauri stable will also undergo a change.
