Sassari Secures Victory Over Milan in Thrilling Serie A Basketball Match

The match valid for the tenth day of Serie A basketball ended at the PalaSerradimigni and Banco di Sardegna Sassari and EA7 Emporio Armani Milano took to the field. Two teams that started this season badly, two disappointed teams that needed a victory to get their heads back up. Here’s how it went.

Nightmare start for Olimpia, who lost some bad balls in the first few minutes with Lo, who was immediately taken away by Messina, while the guests failed to make the triples. A more square and precise Sassari takes advantage of this and with an excellent Gombauld, but not only that, they score an initial partial of 12-0. Milan is in great difficulty and an excellent assist from Tonut is needed for Melli to unblock the guests. So EA7 tries to close the gap, they do it with an excellent Tonut who unlocks his game even from beyond the arc, scores six points in the first quarter and Milan goes back to -4. In the final, however, the home team found two baskets and Sassari went to halftime at 20-14.

Even at the beginning of the second quarter, Milan struggled too much to build offensive actions and a new partial by Sassari, with a triple by Gentile, who brought his team to double figures with an 8-2 partial in the first two minutes of the quarter. Milan is always too afraid to shoot and Lo and his teammates refuse feasible triples and, thus, the guests struggle to build play. So we remain around 10 points ahead for Sassari, who punishes Milan for every mistake by Voigtmann and his teammates and so we go to half-time with Dinamo comfortably ahead 41-30.

Milan tries to react at the beginning of the third quarter, but Sassari responds immediately and after slipping to -8, immediately increases to +13 and a new timeout for Messina, who also finds himself with Melli with 4 fouls too early. A 7-0 partial for Milan signed by Poythress and Shields reopens the games, but Sassari always remains close to the double-digit lead and a triple by Mckinnie 2′ from the end of the quarter extinguishes Milan’s comeback and returns to +12. Flaccadori responds, then Shields steals the ball and dunks and the match is reopened again. Another lost ball by Sassari, Poythress scores and suddenly starts at -5. Sassari scores and we go to the final stop at 65-58.

Nightmare start for Milan in the last quarter, with a foul suffered by Tyree, referees awarding the two points from the basket and also a technician who scores -11 for Olimpia. Milan suffers too much from beyond the arc, with 3/20 in the first three quarters, and Sassari doesn’t struggle to stay ahead. Just two triples from Flaccadori are worth -6 for Milan, then it’s Hall who finds the basket from beyond the arc and -3 with 6′ left and everything to be done again, or almost, for Sassari. Flaccadori scores the -1 from underneath, but it is Gentile who unlocks Sassari, even if Shields ties the score from beyond the arc. 4-0 partial for Sassari who catches his breath, Shields responds again from beyond the arc and we fight point to point now. Shields again from beyond the arc with 2′ left and a new equalizer, but Gentile immediately punishes Milano from three. But Shields surpasses 30 points from beyond the arc, but Sassari responds again. And when Voigtmann doesn’t even find the rim from beyond the arc Sassari has the winning ball. And it is Tyree’s triple that closes the discussion and Dinamo wins 89-83, with 24 points from Tryee for Sassari, while 31 from Shields in Milan are not enough.
